After graduation I attended PLU for two years and then transferred to the University of Washington for my last two years and graduated from there with a degree in Dental Hygiene.  It was while I was at the UW that I met my husband, Carl.  He was in dental school at the time.  After he graduated and we got married in 1970, we moved to San Francisco, where Carl was stationed at Letterman Hospital.  (He joined the Army while in dental school to avoid being drafted.)  From San Francisco, the army moved us to Yuma, Arizona for two years -- a fun place to live!  We almost stayed there.  While there, we both learned how to fly.  Carl still flies.  I don't.  In 1973, we moved to Kennewick, WA (Carl's home), where he set up his dental practice.

It took us 6 years before we figured out how to have kids, but we caught up quickly.  We had three boys - two of whom got married this summer.  The oldest followed in his father's footsteps and became a dentist (UW 2004) and the middle one is soon going that direction also, after deciding that a degree in Economics (WSU) and an MBA (UW) weren't really sending him in the direction he wanted to go.  Hopefully, he will get into a dental school somewhere in the fall of 2006.  The youngest boy has one more quarter to go at our local community college, but has no idea what he wants to do.  If he could race cars and make a living, he would go for it!! In 1991 we decided that if we kept trying, we would always have boys, so we took the plunge and adopted a little girl from Romania.  She is now 14 and just starting high school.  My how time flies!!  While she was in the 2nd grade, we discovered that she is legally blind, so she has been learning braille and just this summer fell in love with reading.  We are so pleased!

Well, as far as what keeps us busy -- we own a health club in Kennewick, which is the FUN business. At the same time, Carl runs a medical electronics company with his brother. Carl's brother designs the diagnostic equipment that looks at the nervous system. Carl markets it and they sell their stuff mainly in the U.S. but also in several foreign countries.  (Carl "retired" from dentistry in 1980.  I "retired" from dental hygiene in 1977 when we had our first child.) We both are very active in our church.  Summers are spent waterskiing with the family and winters, all of us can be found on the ski hill.  Well, that is about it, and probably too much to read.  My, where have the years gone??  I am looking forward to the reunion!  See ya all this Saturday.
