After graduating from high
school I attended the first year that
Tacoma Community College
was open. After a year there I decided that going
to work would be better so I went to work for Boeing as
a metal bonder, married my high school sweetheart (just
celebrated 39 years and we have one son that is a grad
of WSU in Civil Engineering) and then in December of 66
I got DRAFTED into the United States Army.
Did my three years and came back to
Pacific Northwest
and went back to work for Boeing for two months.
Like someone else had mention the sign last one out turn
the lights out, I decided to return to the Army. I
was everything from a bottle washer to a shop
supervisor, to a Company First Sergeant to finally
spending my last five years as an instructor on new
electronic equipment developing the training plans and
traveling around the world training soldiers.
While in the Army I did finish my education and received
a BS in Vocational Education Studies from Southern
Illinois University (SIU) .
After two tours in
Viet Nam, two tours in
Germany, visiting many
countries and twenty two years of service, I retired
from the Army 1 January 1989.
Once again I returned to
Boeing and worked as an aircraft electrician building
747s at the Everett
plant. After several years and two other jobs with
Boeing the odds finally caught up with me and due to
force reduction I moved on to other jobs finally working
for a large food distribution company here in
Tacoma.
Hope to see you all at the
reunion,
